Our Story

Sarah and Amanda, founders

STEADFAST was born from the shared vision of two foster parents, Sarah and Amanda, who first met at a support group for single caregivers.

Sarah was experiencing the deep grief and mixed emotions that follow a foster placement returning home, while Amanda had just completed the application process and was eagerly awaiting her first placement. The group of single women in various stages of foster parenting met monthly to support one another and share the knowledge gained from their experiences.

Through these connections, their own personal journeys, and conversations with other foster and adoptive families, they became aware of the gaps in support for caregiving families. They witnessed families worn down by the challenges of fostering, and the heartbreak of parents left to carry on after a child left their home—with little to no help. These struggles weighed heavily on both of them.

Fast forward to today: Sarah has had six placements, ranging from 11 months to 17 years old, with one leading to adoption. Amanda’s first placement resulted in adoption, along with countless lessons learned. From these experiences, STEADFAST was born. What started as a shared vision between two mothers has grown into a team of passionate individuals with lived experience in foster care and adoption. The STEADFAST team is dedicated to strengthening and supporting caregivers and the youth in their care.

The name “STEADFAST” was chosen to represent the faithful commitment that caregivers make to the children in their homes despite the often overwhelming challenges. This nonprofit exists to be steadfast for YOU. We are here to walk alongside you, offering unwavering support throughout your journey.

We are honored to be part of your story and to stand with you every step of the way.
